Eligibility for JEE Advanced 2025
The Joint Admission Board (JAB) has revised the eligibility standards for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2025. Those who passed the JEE Mains could take the JEE Advanced test three times, according to the board’s announcement from November 5, 2024. This regulation has recently been lifted, though. The advanced exam can now only be taken twice by candidates. The JAB meeting on November 15, 2024, voted to reinstate the prior norm after considering certain competitive requirements. After being in place since 2013, the prior eligibility conditions have now been reinstated.
Attempt Limit for JEE Advanced 2025
The opportunities to attempt JEE Advanced 2025 have been raised from 2 to 3. Nevertheless, this decision was reversed after the meeting of the Joint Admission Board (JAB). IIT Kanpur issued release on Monday announcing changes to the attempt limit for JEE Advanced. Opportunities to attempt the JEE Advanced 2025 exam have decreased. Students are now limited to taking the exam twice instead of three times.
Criteria for JEE Advanced 2025 Eligibility
To be eligible for the JEE Advanced 2025 exam, candidates must be born on or after October 1, 2000.
Furthermore, candidates from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), or those with disabilities receive a relaxation of 5 years on the maximum age limit.
Candidates belonging to reserved categories must be born on or after October 1, 1995.
Out of the JEE Mains exam, 2.50 lakh top-scoring candidates advance to the Advanced level. The updated rules are applicable to students admitted to IIT.
Candidates admitted to NIT are eligible to appear for the JEE Advanced exam, while others are not permitted to retake it.
Who Does Not Qualify?
Students who completed their 12th grade in 2023 are ineligible to appear for the JEE Advanced exam.
These students had been offered the opportunity to take the test earlier.
After IIT Kanpur offered this opportunity, thousands of students registered for JEE Main. He was preparing to gain admission to IIT again.
The eligibility was revoked because granting them three chances would have led to pressure for making this rule permanent.
