Government Pink E-Rickshaw Scheme: Government initiatives are taken to give relaxation to the citizens. Recently the Maharashtra government has introduced a scheme for women, named Pink E- Rickshaw. This scheme is meant for women. This scheme aims at empowering the women by adopting environmentally friendly transportation. This is announced by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. The scheme’s foundation started with a successful pilot in Pune and is now set to expand throughout the state.
In this scheme electric rickshaws will be provided to the women. The targeted candidates are particularly those who are from disadvantaged backgrounds. This scheme basically focuses to create a sustainable source of income. It gives financial assistance, training and infrastructure improvements to the women. Deputy Chief Ajit Pawar also said that these electric rickshaws will be the main prop or the transportation medium in connecting metro stations, airports and tourist spots across Maharashtra. The distribution program was happened at the Agriculture College grounds in Shivajinagar.
Important of Government Pink E-Rickshaw Scheme:
- This initiative contains several features. Subsidies are provided to the women in phase wise.
- The government is giving subsidy of Rs. 1, 00,000.00 to buy each e-rickshaw when the beneficiaries have to pay only 10% down payment.
- Through this scheme the beneficiaries will get free driving training and also they will be provided the driving licenses and a five-year warranty with an Annual Maintenance Contract.
- Almost more than 1,000 EV charging stations are going to be established in Pune to give support to this initiative. With this it will be easy to get the access.
- With the collaborations with private mobility platforms these vehicles can be managed through the apps and it is enhancing safety and accessibility for women.

Government Pink E-Rickshaw Scheme:
The first phase of this project includes the distribution of 10,000 Pink E-Rickshaws in eight cities like in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Nagpur, Nashik, Ahilyanagar, Amravati, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Kolhapur and Solapur respectively.
In this minimum of 4000 e-rickshaws will be given in Pune. And already the women beneficiaries have received as the first group beneficiaries.
The fund distribution happens in two ways. It offers women drivers a government subsidy of Rs 25,000 from central funds and Rs 75,000 from the state government.
And the remaining 70 percent of the vehicle cost will be covered by low-interest loans from collaborative banks.
This is a huge initiative taken to create the last-mile connectivity while empowering women by providing them with a respectable source of income.

Training partner will be hired by the Kinetic Green who is the collaborative partner. It plans to hire an agency to train the beneficiaries to make them competent enough to face the situations by making sure all drivers have the skills needed to operate their e-rickshaws effectively.
