The government was providing subsidy to install up to 3 KW solar panel on the roof for approximately 14588 per KW. But now it has increased up to 18000 per KW. So it will provide a good benefit for individuals who wish to install solar panels in 2024. If you want to install solar panels of 3 KW to 10 KW then you can get 9000 rupees per KW from the government as subsidy. It was 7294 in earlier before increment in the subsidy rates.
The subsidies will be provided only general States in India. Government of India has listed some special States including hill stations ( hard stations), mountain areas and other difficult Areas where livelihood is very difficult. So these States citizens will get additional subsidy over the general subsidy to install solar panels on their rooftop.

Government is accepting bids
So if you are satisfy with this new subsidy increment then you can place a bid in Solar rooftop scheme. The government is accepting bids from companies which will provide solar panels to citizens for installation from 5 January 2024 and the last date to apply for this bid is 20 January 2024. However this bid is opened only for companies and DISCOMs who are listed as service providers. After completing this procedure the government will increase subsidy for customer who want to install solar panel on their roof of the home.

25 crore house will get benefit
The whole country is switching on renewable energy and where Solar Energy is very easiest and cost efficient method to generate electricity and help to reduce burning of coal. According to the report of Council on energy environment and water – there are approximately more than 25 crore houses in India which are suitable to install solar rooftop. If government get success to install solar panels on these houses then India can generate approximately 637 GW Energy.
But government get success only to generate 11 GW energy from solar panel in India till yet. So there are very potential in solar panels installation on the road for individual’s houses. To hit a 40-gigawatt goal for rooftop solar power by 2022, the central government initiated two stages of the grid-connected rooftop and small solar power plants program. They offered incentives through financial aid to encourage participation.
However, power distribution companies (Discoms) have been hesitant to commit to power purchase agreements for rooftop solar projects and set up the necessary net metering systems. This reluctance stems from concerns about potential revenue loss from their more lucrative consumers, doubts about the financial feasibility of these projects, and challenges in securing funding. Industry experts have highlighted these issues as significant obstacles in the widespread adoption of rooftop solar initiatives.
