History of the Pradhan Mantri Student Scholarship Scheme
Former Prime Minister of India Shri Manmohan Singh announced the Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) from the Red Fort on 15 August 2005. Under the Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme (PMSS), an annual scholarship of Rs 36000 is provided to girls every year. Boys are provided an annual scholarship of Rs 30000 at the rate of Rs 3000 per month, while boys are provided Rs 2500 per month.
Benefits of PM Scholarship Scheme
- Every year a total of 5500 wards / widows of ex-servicemen are selected for Prime Minister’s Scholarship.
- Scholarships are divided equally between all selected boys and girls.
- Under the Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme, scholarships are paid to students for one to five years depending on the duration of their courses.
- All the selected boys will be given a scholarship of Rs 2500 every month (Earlier it was Rs 2000).
- And a scholarship of Rs 3000 will be given every month to all the selected girls (Earlier it was Rs 2250).

Eligibility Criteria for PM Scholarship
