Cancellation of UGC NET June 2024
The Ministry of Education announced on X, “Government is committed to ensuring the sanctity of examinations and protecting the interest of students. Ministry of Education has decided that the UGC-NET June 2024 Examination be canceled based on inputs from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, prima-facie indicating that the integrity of the examination may have been compromised.
A fresh Examination shall be conducted, for which information shall be shared separately. The matter being handed over to CBI for thorough investigation in the matter.” This decision highlights the Ministry’s commitment to fairness and transparency in the examination process, even if it means taking the difficult step of cancelling a major test.

NTA on the UGC NET June 2024 Cancelled Case
The National Testing Agency (NTA) successfully conducted the UGC-NET June 2024 examination on June 18, 2024, in OMR (Pen and Paper) mode across two shifts (09:30 AM to 12:30 Noon and 03:00 PM to 06:00 PM) for 11,21,225 candidates at 1205 exam centers in 317 cities nationwide.
This year’s exam included provisions for candidates from Four Year UG Programmes to qualify for the Junior Research Fellowship and Ph.D. admissions for the first time. The candidates comprised 6,35,587 females, 4,85,579 males, and 59 from the third gender, with an impressive attendance rate of approximately 81%, compared to 73.6% in the December 2023 exam.
