Cabinet minister Piyush Goyal has told the media to extend the duration of the LPG Subsidy 2024 amount for purchasing a gas cylinder under the Pradhanmantri Ujjwal Yojana. More than 9 crore females are registered with this scheme and are getting a 300 rupees subsidy on gas cylinders of 14.2 kg weight. The scheme earlier provided rs 200 subsidy to the beneficiaries in October 2023, but after that Government increased the subsidy from rs 200 to 300 rupees in October 2023 for 31 March 2024. However the scheme was going to be discontinued in this month, but the cabinet minister Piyush Goyal has an out to extend the scheme for up to 31 March 2025.
LPG Subsidy 2024
All the beneficiaries who are receiving gas cylinders with a 300 rupees LPG Subsidy 2024 can continue to purchase gas cylinders at the same price for the upcoming year. As the Lok sabha elections are very soon the government is expected to provide relaxation on multiple products including decreasing petrol rates, subsidy on gas cylinders, subsidy on electricity, etc. The government has also recently announced an increment in the salary of Government employees by increasing dearness allowance and HRA allowance. And now pm Ujjwal Yojana beneficiaries have also received a 300 rupees LPG Subsidy 2024 on gas cylinders in this year.
The Central government is providing subsidies only for domestic gas cylinders to the beneficiaries. If you are registered with Pradhan Mantri Ujjwal Yojana then you can get a maximum of 12 cylinders in a year, where you can purchase one cylinder per month with 300 rupees maximum subsidy.
However, after completing the 12th refill of the gas cylinder, you will be charged the amount without subsidy for purchasing the 13th cylinder in a year. Currently, beneficiaries are paying 603 for purchasing a gas cylinder under Pradhanmantri Ujjwal Yojana which includes a 300 rupees LPG Subsidy 2024. However other customers are paying 903 rupees to purchase a gas cylinder. The price of a gas cylinder can up and down according to the different cities but the subsidy on the gas cylinder will be the same as 300 rupees. This decision will increase the financial burden on the government by up to 12000 crore rupees in the financial years 2024 and 2025.
