DA Hiked By 4%: The Government of India has increased the dearness allowance of the employees in the union territory of Ladakh. Employees will get DA Hiked By 4% extra da from the next month’s salary according to the notice issued by the Administration of Union Territory of Ladakh. Ladakh is a union territory in India where the administration is conducted by the Commissioner. The administration has uploaded a DA Hiked By 4% notification on the official website about an increment of DA in employees of Ladakh UT. According to the notification, DA will be increased from 42% to 46%. It will be provided to the Employees with the salary for next month and will include all the arrears in the upcoming salary. DA will increase according to the provisions of the Government of India issued by the Ministry of Finance. It will include all the employees of all groups and will increase their DA.

The Government of India has already increased the dearness allowance of the employees in the last month and now the union territory of Ladakh has also uploaded a notification to increase 4% da of the employees. However the DA Hiked notification is uploaded in the month of November, but employees will get 46% DA of their salary according to July 2023. So all the employees who are getting a 42% dearness allowance from the last three months will also get additional arrears from July 2023. All the remaining amount will be calculated in the next salary of the employees where they will not only get a 46% dearness allowance but will also get the rest payment from July 2023.

Only DA will increase
Notification has stated that only the dearness allowance of the employees will be increased in their basic pay. The basic pay is also defined in the official notification which is calculated according to the 7th pay commission. So employees who are getting their salary according to the 7th pay commission basic pay will get a 4% hike in dearness allowance. Other allowances including special pay, HRA, etc will not be increased by following is notification.
The Union Territory has followed the order of the Department of Expenditure, Finance Ministry of Government of India which was announced on 20 October 2023 for the Central Government employees. So all the provisions that are noted in this notification will also be applicable to employees in the union territory of Ladakh.

Calculation of DA
The Government of India is providing DA to their employees according to the recommendations in the 7th pay commission. Currently, all the employees are getting 46% of basic pay as DA which is provided to the Employees by adding basic salary, DA, and other allowances. The Government of India has calculated the DA of the employees according to the all-India CPI index. This index is managed by the government of India where we can see month wise status of dearness for different products. So by analyzing the increment in the dearness, the government hikes the DA of the employees accordingly.
Central Government employees get a DA hike twice a year. The first Hike is provided for the duration of January to June and the second hike in DA is provided from July to December. So employees of Ladakh union territory will get the updated da from July to December of 46% according to the official notification.
