History And Background of The MP Free Laptop Scooter Scheme

The Chief Minister’s Incentive Scheme Free Laptop Scooty Yojana, which gives ₹25,000 for a laptop to MP Board 12th grade top students, started in 2009-10. Initially, students scoring more than 85% received laptops. At that time, the number of students was around 20,000 to 25,000. Later, the required percentage was reduced to 70% for one year. Currently, students scoring more than 75% in 12th grade will receive the laptop money.

How Many Students Will Get Scooter and Laptop?

About 7,000 students will receive ₹25,000 for a laptop by July. The School Education Department has asked for the list of these top students from the MP Board.

If last year’s announcement by former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is followed, CBSE students may also be included this time, though it is not certain yet. According to the department’s Deputy Secretary, Pramod Singh, 90,400 students will receive the laptop money this year.

Scooters for 7,000 Students

This year, all top students from 12th grade in every school will receive a scooter. About 7,000 students will be included in this. Last year, every top student from government schools received a scooter. Although there was talk of including private school students in the program, it has not been implemented yet.

The plan is to give a scooter to the top students from each government school who passed 12th grade. The student just needs to be the topper, even if they passed with a second division.

CBSE Topper Students

Former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan had announced that from next year, meritorious students of MP Board as well as CBSE will get Rs 25,000 each for laptops. But the School Education Department has not yet received any instructions in this regard.

If CBSE students join this scheme, then about one lakh students will increase. The department is waiting for the final decision on this.
