Government Holiday List 2024: The year 2024 is very near and the government has created a list of holidays for Central Government employees. If you are also working with the central government in Delhi and other locations then you can check the following Government Holiday List 2024 which are decided in the Office memorandum of the Government of India.
The Ministry of Personnel, Public Governance, and Pensioners issued an office memorandum on 3 July 2023 for the Central Government holiday list 2024. There are two types of holidays for Central Government employees including gazetted holidays and restricted holidays. Where gazetted holidays are pre-decided by the government for all the employees. There are a total of 17 holidays decided by the government of India for Central Government employees in Delhi and a total 33 Restricted holidays are listed in this office memorandum which will be decided by the administrative officer on specific locations according to local and regional culture.

It is mentioned in the office memorandum that no substitution holiday will be provided to the Employees if the holiday falls on any weekend or week off. It is also instructed in this memorandum that holidays of festivals including Eid al-Adha, Eid ul Fitr, Eid Milad Al Nabi, and Muharram will be arranged according to the exact date in their locality, as it will depend on the direction of the moon.

If administrative officers want to declare a holiday then they have to submit a proposal for 15 days of the holiday which will include the reason for the holiday, the date, the number of employees who will be affected by this holiday, and The impact of this proposed holiday for office work. Apart from this, Ministries and departments will prepare separate lists of holidays according to their departments including the finance department for the banking sector, the Ministry of Home Affairs for union territories, etc.
