The Sainik Schools are a network of public schools in India, overseen by the Sainik Schools Society under the Ministry of Defense (MoD). They were first proposed in 1961 by V. K. Krishna Menon, who was then the Defense Minister of India. The aim was to address the regional and class disparities among officers in the Indian Military. The main goal of Sainik Schools is to prepare students both academically and physically for admission into the National Defense Academy (NDA) and the Indian Naval Academy (INA). Together with 1 RIMC (Rastriya Indian Military College) and 5 RMS (Rastriya Military Schools), Sainik Schools contribute a significant percentage of officer cadets to the NDA and INA.
Counselling and Admission of Sainik School
Students who find their names on the Sainik school counseling seat allocation list must confirm their admission by accepting the allotted school before 10 am on April 10. Following this, document verification and medical tests will take place starting from 8 am on April 15.
According to the provided schedule, the deadline for submitting documents and fees is April 27. The admission process for Sainik School 2024 will encompass the existing 33 Sainik schools as well as newly approved ones, both under the 40% and 60% routes. This admission will be conducted through e-counselling based on the merit obtained in AISSEE 2024. Notably, 19 new Sainik schools have recently received approval.

Admission Reservation of Sainik School
As per the reservation policy, 67% of seats are reserved for home-state candidates and the remaining 33% of seats are for other state students. Medical fitness reports of the students will also have to be submitted during document verification. Along with this, a study certificate signed by the principal, income certificate, category certificate, admission admit card, AISSEE Admit Card 2024 score card, identity certificate, local residence certificate, and date of birth for class 6, and 9 students. Certificates also have to be brought. Students seeking admission to any Sainik School must also bring two passport-size photographs, an AISSEE Score Card 2024, and an Admit Card.
