On May 28, 2024, the Government of Madhya Pradesh, through its Finance Department, issued an important order aimed at providing financial relief to retired state government employees receiving provisional pensions. The order, addressed to all government departments, the Chairman of the Revenue Board in Gwalior, all divisional commissioners, department heads, and district collectors across the state, outlines significant changes in the calculation and disbursement of Dearness Relief for these pensioners.

Pensioner DA Hike 2024 Latest Update

The directive is a continuation of an earlier decision from November 13, 2017, which initially set guidelines for providing Dearness Relief to provisional and family pensioners. The current order emphasizes that the Dearness Relief for these pensioners will be calculated based on the rates applicable to employees under the fourth or fifth pay commission’s pay scales. This adjustment aligns the financial support with the latest cost-of-living indices and ensures that pensioners receive adequate compensation in the face of inflation.

New Rates of DA

A critical update in the new directive is the handling of fractional amounts in the Dearness Relief payments. If the calculated amount includes a fraction of 50 paise or more, it will be rounded up to the next higher rupee. Conversely, if the fraction is less than 50 paise, it will be rounded down to the nearest rupee. This rounding mechanism simplifies the payment process and ensures that pensioners receive whole rupee amounts, making the disbursement process more straightforward and reducing administrative complexities.

This order reinforces a previous directive dated March 15, 2024, which set the current rates for Dearness Allowance applicable to provisional pensioners. By maintaining consistency with these rates, the government ensures that the financial support provided remains relevant and effective in offsetting the impact of inflation.

Benefits of DA hike for employees

The initiative underscores the Madhya Pradesh government’s commitment to the welfare of its retired employees. By adjusting the Dearness Relief to reflect current economic conditions, the government aims to provide meaningful financial support to its pensioners, helping them manage their living expenses better. The order, signed by Deputy Secretary P. U. Sisodia, reflects the administration’s dedication to implementing policies that benefit retired personnel and their families.

This move is part of a broader effort by the state government to enhance the financial security of its retired workforce, recognizing their contributions to public service and ensuring they are adequately supported in their post-retirement years. The implementation of this order will be monitored by all relevant state departments, ensuring that the increased Dearness Relief is disbursed efficiently and reaches all eligible pensioners without delay. For further information, pensioners are encouraged to contact their respective department offices or visit the official website of the Madhya Pradesh Finance Department.
