New Delhi World Book Fair 2024: Literary festival in the capital
The 51st edition of the New Delhi World Book Fair (NDWBF), organized by the National Book Trust (NBT) of India, is starting on 10th February at Pragati Maidan, Delhi. The literary fest will run till February 18 and include over 2,000 stalls with books in different languages, NBT officials said on Friday.
Inauguration of National e-Library: A step towards reaching
This book fair, organized by the Ministry of Education and Journalism of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, will not only showcase books but will also inaugurate a national e-library. This digital storage will allow users to access and download books for free, which coincides with promoting a broader reading culture in the country. Saudi Arabia is the guest country for this year’s book fair, and officials said an established contingent of 25 people will be coming from the country.
Yuvraj Malik, NBT Director, emphasizes on cultural development of reading
Speaking to the media at a press conference, NBT Director Yuvraj Malik expressed the aim of promoting a strong reading culture in the country. He highlighted the importance of ease of access to books, saying that the easier it is for books to be accessible, the sooner we will achieve that goal. This e-library, which will be available to everyone across the country, aims to contribute to this goal. The theme of NDWBF 2024 is “Multilingual India, a Living Tradition”.
