On the basis of a BSc (Hons) or equivalent degree or candidates enrolled in an integrated MS-PhD Program :-

  • Such candidates who hold a BSc (Hons) or equivalent degree or candidates enrolled in an integrated MS-PhD program with at least 55 per cent marks (50 per cent for SC/ST/PwD candidates) are also eligible to apply for the examination. Also, candidates who hold an undergraduate degree will be eligible for CSIR fellowship only after getting registered for PhD/Integrated PhD course within the validation period of two years, as per the official website.

On the basis of a Bachelor’s Degree :-

  • Those candidates who possess only a Bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) only and not the Lectureship (LS)/Assistant Professor. That is, BE/BS/BTech/B.Pharma/MBBS final year/ result-awaited candidates are eligible to apply for JRF only. Such candidates are not eligible to apply for LS.
  • BSc (Hons.) final year / Result awaited candidates are also not eligible to apply.

Others :-

  • Candidates who possess a PhD degree and who have passed their master’s before September 19, 1991, with at least 50 per cent marks are eligible to apply for lectureship only.
  • The eligibility for Lectureship/Assistant Professor of NET qualified candidates is subject to fulfilling the criteria lay down by UGC.
